A Label Marketer Just Said It Plain: Posting Your Song 3 Times Is Not Trying

A senior director of digital marketing at LVRN — the label home of

Summer Walker and 6LACK — put a number on something I've been telling

independent artists for years. Her name is Alexis Warner, and 24/7

Artists just turned her workshop into a free workbook called

*Built to Be Seen*. Her line:

> "You did not try. You just gave up. Trying is posting the song

> 20 times."

Three posts is not a rollout. Three posts is an *announcement*. A record

doesn't fail because nobody liked it — most records never get *seen*

enough times, by enough different people, in enough different ways,

for anybody to decide. That's the whole idea behind my 1,000 Punches

philosophy: quality is the ticket in, frequency is what gets you

found. Warner just gave that philosophy a major-label receipt — and a

number. Twenty.

🎯 The 20 Chances — One Song, Every Angle

You don't need 20 songs. You need 20 honest ways into the one song

you already believe in:

The song itself — 6 chances

  1. 01The hook, first 15 seconds, nothing else.
  2. 02The opening line of verse one — the line that sets the world.
  3. 03The strongest single lyric, on screen, by itself.
  4. 04The bridge or the turn — the part casual listeners never reach.
  5. 05The last 15 seconds — how the record *leaves* people.
  6. 06The full song, pinned, once the other 19 have warmed it up.

The story behind it — 5 chances

  1. 01What actually happened that made you write it.
  2. 02Who this song is for, in one sentence — name them.
  3. 03The line you almost cut, and why it stayed.
  4. 04What this record says about who you are as an artist.
  5. 05Where this song sits in your story — before it, and after it.

Proof you're a working artist — 4 chances

  1. 01The session moment where the record clicked.
  2. 02Performing it — live, rehearsal, or in the car, full energy.
  3. 03The a cappella cut: words only, no beat to hide behind.
  4. 04A reaction — a real comment, a first listener, a room responding.

Bring the audience in — 3 chances

  1. 01"Which version — 1 or 2?" Let them pick, then honor the pick.
  2. 02"Who do you hear on this with me?" Let them cast the feature.
  3. 03Ask what the song reminds *them* of — their story, not yours.

The door — 2 chances

  1. 01Where to hear it in full, and why now — one clear direction.
  2. 02Where to *own* it — buy it, join the list, step inside your world.

Nineteen posts of giving earn the twentieth's ask.

🔁 Why Twenty Works When Three Doesn't

Every chance reaches a different stranger. The hook finds scrollers.

The story finds believers. The question finds talkers. The algorithm

is a fishing rod — you don't cast it three times and declare the lake

empty. And notice what twenty forces you to do: actually *know* your

own record — every section, every line, every reason it exists. Most

artists can't list 20 things about their best song. That's not a

content problem. That's the identity problem showing up in public.

Final Takeaway: Pick the one song you believe in most. Don't ask

whether it worked until it has had its 20 chances — every section,

every story, every angle. Three posts is hope. Twenty is a rollout.
